The Weekend Warrior Lifestyle Issue No. 2

Every Monday morning, we wake up and the countdown begins.

Five more days until Friday.  We can all relate to that.

We step back into the same grind-the alarms, school drop offs, the commute, the workday, the practices, the errands, finding time to cook dinners, the laundry, and the never ending list of things that need to get done.

Tuesday comes, then Wednesday, and we keep moving through the routine of it all.  We check the calendar, we watch the clock tick down, and we remind ourselves that the weekend is getting closer.  By Thursday, we can almost feel it and then Friday finally arrives, and something within us shifts.

The work week begins to fade, the car gets packed, the plans come together, and we step back into the parts of our lives and ourselves that feel the most like us. For some people, the weekend is simply a break from the work week and routine of it all.  For a Weekend Warrior, it is something much more.

It is what we have been working toward all week, this time when we reconnect with the people, places, and activities that make us feel full.  The Weekend Warrior lifestyle is not defined by one particular hobby or adventure.  It can look completely different for each and every one of us.

For our family the weekend is a time where we get to watch our children live out their best lives in the rink.  It is where we watch the hard work and dedication grow week to week.  It is where we get to travel to all different places even though the cold rinks remain the same.  It's the car rides where we belly laugh so hard and make the memories.  It's even the slow times when we catch a day off (although very rare) that we can enjoy a lazy day home, or an adventure out east, or just a quiet day being a family.  It is not one particular moment but the feeling that these moments bring to us that we quietly countdown to during the week.

Whether your Weekend Warrior life looks like a quiet camping trip, a sunrise by the water, a packed day at the rink, or cheering from the sidelines, it is not only about what you are doing, it's about the feeling that it creates.

The anticipation. The freedom. The connection.  The chance to step outside the routine and return to the people, places and moments that make you feel most alive.

The Weekend Warrior lifestyle is a state of mind.  It is choosing to make the most of the time you have and finding meaning in both the big adventures and the ordinary moments in between.

Because however you spend your weekend, what matters most is how fully you live it.

Here's to the weekends well lived.
